I'm new to SC2 but I went through practice league and toward the end I started doing an early 3 barracks (I play Terran). I try using this against others and so far I'm having little results. what would be a good build against protoss and zerg? I have yet to win against zerg so thats my biggest obstacle

I play protoss but I have some good builds for you. As terran you should just do marine/tank build because that is the best way to demolish a zerg. Against Protoss I would just do a heavy bio build(marine/marauder/medivac).
EDIT: Yeah, if they go colossus just get vikings since you will have the starport. If the got High Templar just get ghosts.

It kinda depends, are you losing early, like getting six pooled or cannon rushed?
If so a fast barracks is you best idea, if you scout some cheese than get as many marines to try and hold it off.
If your losing long games, than a 2Rax expand is the simple build for Terran. This starts your army and doubles your economy and sets you up well to transition to higher tech. After that grab either a factory and a starport or a factory and 2 more barracks. Now you have Marines/Tanks or Mass Marines/Tanks/Medivacs. Kinda personal preference. If you see banelings from zerg, seiged tanks are godly or transition into half marauders because they are less susceptible to banelings.
To beat a zerg is to fuck up his economy. A zerg relies on having mass drones and many bases to keep up late game production. If you can harass when he tries to expand for the first time or when he puts up a third, you can delay his economy and his production. If you didnt know Zerg produces all units out of the hatchery so the less of them they have the less units the can make quickly.
Against Protoss, marines and tanks again kinda dominate the units you should use, upgrades are key if you want marines to take down a million stalkers. I would invest in combat shields and +1 armor as soon as it makes sense and you have the economy. The main goal against toss is to deny their third. A toss on 3 bases is like a zerg on 5, basically unstoppable because they can almost infinity reinforce.
Play smart, scout as often as possible and think about what they are making and counter it the best way you know how. Good Luck! Lets us know your progress!

Against Zerg
Blue Flame Hellion into Drop Harrasing. Thors if they go Muta, Tanks/Marauder/Marine if they don't
Against Toss
Someone said Heavy Bio... They are trolling you!
Colossus and HT's Destroy bio balls.
Tanks/Vikings(If they go colos)/marauder and throw in Marines for good effect aswell.

I play Zerg and I can agree that Blue Flame Hellions are evil. Ghost's sniper is effective against early game Muta's too.

Awesome thanks for the help. I'm going to try these builds against A.I and see how they work. Hopefully once I get a solid build I can stay out of Bronze league haha
