Were there ever any Oddball or KOTH gametypes available for testing from MLG? I'd like to get some kind of real objective gametype for a tournament I'm having in just over a week.
If anyone has verions of these gametypes, official or not, that I could get somehow, that'd be great!
For 4v4 I'll just run the regular MLG v5's, but for 2v2 flag and bomb don't really work, and I don't feel like having 3 games of slayer (to 25) would really allow the best team to really win.
Not sure of the sequence of the games either, if I should go slayer/obj/slayer or reserve the OBJ game for a game 3 tie-breaker.
Open to suggestions, certainly.
Also, if there are no gametypes available, I'll have to create some myself, and I could REALLY use some help with tweaking the settings, spawns, and such in forge, and actually testing them to make sure they're balanced.
If anyone wants to help, I'm certainly open to it. I'll be on most of the rest of this week, and next as well. GT in sig.

KOTH was tested last week and Oddball this week. Go to "Killa KC" file share to download the test gametypes and maps. From the reviews I read on each so far these are the ones who got the best votes:
KOTH: Countdown 2, Cynosure...but also tested Countdown 1 (different Hill sequence), Zealot, Element, there may have been another
Oddball: Zealot...but also tested Android, Warlock, Century

I haven't played on these myself yet, but I am looking to invite people tonight to test some things out:
KOTH on Countdown, Oddball on Zealot, updated Sanc. and Redemption as well as a TS or CTF game on Surge, an Onlsaught variation which by walking around it feels much better for Reach. If interested anyone MESSAGE me on XBL to cF WiNGER and MENTION customs. A random F/R I will ignore, I don't like to fill my friend's list with people I don't know. A message will help out that situation lol.
As for the tournament set up, do what they did in MLG. CTF-TS-other obj-CTF-TS

I like King Countdown.. the one with the hills being on blue and red streets and on the big door. and oddball element is fun, you need top mid control for sure

That's the plan for 4v4, but that doesn't really work as well for the 2v2 imo. 2v2 CTF or Bomb would just be awful, I think.
Countdown hill and Element hill certainly intrigue me.
Oddball would only work well on Zealot, from that list you gave (but I'm a little biased, I don't like Warlock at all). I'm not at all familiar with Century either, so idk.
but thanks for all the info, I'll definitely have to check these out
Still open for testers so I can personally see how these gametypes run on 2v2 and maybe make any tweaks to them, like lower the winning score to 100 or 150.

For some reason, I expected one of the hills to be outside, like on the rocket/camo spawn. Big door I understand, its pretty obvious, but i guess that only leaves 2 hills with nowhere else to put one that's a good defensible, but breakable position.

@phreek...my 2 teammates warm up to 1v1 CTF and have a blast. I've played 2v2 CTF just for fun before and it is rather fun. Only problem is games can drag on the whole 15 mins. Playing wise it is fun, you should try it for fun.
@fuzioness i'll send you an invite if we can get it going tonight

For fun is the keyword there. No doubt it'd be fun going head to head in flag, but if I use it as a tie breaker, I don't want a 15 minute game that drags on and on, I suspect the teams will be pretty equal slaying wise, so I'd like to have something they control, and the other team has to break, so it can go back and forth and may the best team win? Does that make sense? They're playing for some pretty sick prizes so I wanna make them work for it, haha!

@phreek...true. I see what you mean. From any 2v2's I've played though, teams just camp with power weapons anyway. With an objective it will make people not wait around and just control power weapons. It will make them need to move and try to work to get control of something. However, with CTF a team could grab a lead and sit back if they wished. If you don't have a lot of campers in the tournament CTF could go off as a bang, but if people just sit with power weapons and wait it will get boring no matter what. CTF, Oddball, King whatever it may be. I think map choice will be more of a concern than gametypes. Is it strictly MLG maps?
Also if you decide on Oddball, if any map has a rocket launcher I'd take it out. That will just turn into 4 rushes for ball guy only to be stopped by rockets. They would be way too powerful in 2v2 Oddball.

Yeah, like I said I'll be tweaking them a bit, maybe reducing clip size of power weapons and such, thanks for making that point, i hadn't thought of that.
And yes, all will be MLG maps, so far... or at least maps that are in the much later versions of MLG testing. Most of our players are MLG enthusiasts anyway, and those that aren't probably won't be in the tournament, and the MLG maps are well known and have been "fixed" to prevent things like camping and/or hiding, so they should work well.

No problem, glad it helped. Hope it runs well! Good luck!

Hopefully you'll get to find out during the testing... haha
Ok, Zealot ball is broken. That didn't take long. You can throw the ball behind the barriers that go up gold lift and must wait for reset. :( Easy fix though.

That had that problem for bomb also. They could fix that by making gold lift the same as red and blue so it can just be played and resets quickly. We'll see if they do tho
