1 vs 1 AI

Hey all,

So just got my new computer that can actually play Starcraft now! w00t! Beat the game a couple days ago. Wanted to start practicing 1 vs 1's against the AI to get my quick keys going.

Quick question: What is the "fairest" level to play against the AI? By fair i mean the one that doesn't give the AI extra resources, or allow it to mine faster, etc etc.

Non of the extra things that the AI gets is any problem, just play what challenges you most without being unwinable. Start of on Medium and start working up from there i would say

Hey Trox, do standard 1vs1 games play in fast mode? Or is that something the default selects when playing the comp?

All Ladder games are played in Faster Mode.

TY trox! Sorry i'm just going to be a pain with questions, but i was noticing there a bazillion maps. But when i watch like day9 and husky i see maybe the same 5 or 6 maps usually.

When you play online can it be any of those maps in the list? Or are there just certain ones for online? Or maybe only certain ones for tourney?

There is a certain map list for current Ladder maps. And the GSL does have a set map list aswell - Which is where most practice takes place.

Crevasse
Crossfire SE
Dual Sight
Metalopolis
Tal'Darim Altar LE
Terminus SE
Xel'Naga Caverns
Xel'Naga Fortress

Of course each tournament will have their own map pool. But i find this set of maps to be the most balanced to play and spectate.

In order to play these maps create a Custom game and enter the name in the search box while selecting your map.

Pretty daunting considering how many bazillion games i'm going to have to play to figure out good builds. I'm still slow on figuring out what buildings i need in order to get what units along with proper resource gathering rates to support that build.

Yeah but that's what makes this game great is the amount of strats and builds. There is always something to be learning and practicing.
