View Full Version : The Free Agent / Partial Teams system

Sorry if i put this in the wrong place. Anyways, im sure some of you if not most of you will agree with me when i say the current system for finding F/As and Partial Teams blow. Dont get me wrong, i completely understand WHY the system is in place, which is too keep the forums more organized; However it sucks. Nobody wants to sit there and pick people/teams to run with out simply by their name and a very small description if there is one at all. I feel like all the current system is doing is making it harder for Free Agents and what not to be found. Besides that, its not like they are updated very much. Basically what im trying to get across here is :

1. Get rid of the sticky threads for Free Agents and Partial Teams.
a. Although organized, its not efficient.
2. Let people make their own individual posts.
a. It will allow them to put more into the thread about their playstyle, experience, what they are looking for, ect.
b. It will keep the forums more active, which at the end of the day is the goal.

Now, if one of the reasons that TLN uses the current system is so that it will be easier on the Mods, heres a simple solution : Get more Mods!

Let me know what you guys think. Leave your opinion alone and if theres ANYTHING you want me to add to the thread, just let me know and i will do it.

Pretty sure we should keep the two threads we have now.

Reasons:
1) No one has to use the broken search feature to find any free agents or partial teams
2) Makes it easier for the mods to watch everything
3) Makes it easier for people to find the correct place to post stuff (though it still shocks me how many people can't find it)
4) It doesn't clutter up the forum sections with countless threads 99.9% of the members don't want to read

Kind of a follow up from reason #4. If you have all the F/A and partial teams in one place then it give the people posting them a sense of where to go and that it's okay to post them. However, it keeps everyone from having to actually try to avoid them. No one wants to look through forums sections to see a bunch of post by people you don't know and don't care about to hear how they want a top 16 team during their first event and for you to message them at XxXMLGproSnIpErXxX

Moral of the story, no one really wants to read them. So why not put them in one spot where they can easily be avoided by the people who don't want to see them?

Not very many people actually use F/A and partial team post anyway. Honestly imo it would nice just not to have them. Of course I know that's too much to ask and I don't expect that. However, I like them being condensed into one thread.

I actually have found a few teams using this site, and I'm currently on a team because I read someones thread on this site. It's retarded to keep everything in one place, especially the Free Agent thread. There are 100 gamertags cluttered in that one page. Is it likely you'll get spotted? Also many people do, and try to, so many people have bitched about the F/A Partial team thing. The community wants this, and just get more mods...

Yes you're on a team because of them. However, you're not quite getting the point of the post. Like most of my post there is more meaning to it then what is simply placed out in the words. You have to delve a little deeper into to it see where I'm going. I refrain myself from posting it out in the open though because I would simply invite a gathering of angry forum members.

I'm not saying they don't work one way or the other. Was simply stating why I think they should stay the same.

An aside of sorts but, if you have found several teams using them and you say it's working for you...why change them?

Another thing though. I'm not sure more mods is the answer if they do change it. I think we currently have enough mods. Plus I'm not sure who exactly I would see from the current community being a moderator.

I think we thought about the idea of a F/A sub-forum deal, like the MLG forums have. Not sure if it's going to happen though, pretty disorganized imo.

It took quite a freakin long time. It's disorganized and stop d-riding the mods.

How am I D-riding anyone? Good sir if you knew me well enough we wouldn't be having this conversation.

What I was hinting at (follow me on this closely because I won't just come out and say it (mostly because it would offend people and secondly because it amuses me if people can follow)) You free agent findings and team findings have gotten you "a few teams" as quoted for yourself.

Now have you done anything with those teams? I'm not knocking it I'm simply putting it in perspective. Now after thinking about that do you truly believe changing the way the free agent/partial teams are found on TLN alone will change anything for the competitive players of esports? Imo I'm gonna have to say no.

However look up above this post (that's this direction ^) addressing Morgans post in which we could have a subforum for it. I for one would be quite happy about that. You guys get to post as many threads you want daily about changing teams every week and I get the self satisfaction of seeing them corralled into one easy to find, easy to avoid place.

Also as much as I disagree with it the OP has given off a well reasoned topic of discussion that's being brought to members attention for the possible bettering of the community. I don't see our personal... quarrel or discussion or whatever it is remaining civilized what with all the accusing and name calling. So if you have something personally against the way I behave in my post of what have you. I'll ask that you PM personally to discuss it (no it won't change anything) and if that displeases you then PM a mod about it.

Let's refrain from the banter in which will get the thread locked.

Sorry if someone said this, I skipped after reading a couple. I like having these threads to help people find what they are looking, but I think it should also be broken down more. Maybe when people post they are a F/A put what kind of playstyle you play and what type of player you are. Kind of like a template like this:

GT: cF WiNGER
Name (optional): Justin
Age: 25
Location (optional): NJ
Player Type: Support/Objective
Play Style: I play better with set ups over an overly aggressive attack.
Times On: Weekdays (9pm-1am EST) Weekends (9pm-1am EST)...can be on anyday whenever when I don't have work
Notes: add any notes about yourself you want potential teammates to know about you and your game. Maybe past experiences or former teams that were known a bit.

...I think we should just redo the entire thread. Clear it out and start from scratch. Have someone who will update every 2 or 3 days. For the mods who will be watching the thread, delete posts after you add people to the list. This way people can also post when they find a team and want to be taken off easily rather than a mod missing the post because there are so many. Keep it clean!

I'm all for a New section that is ONLY Free agents and partial Teams, under which there would be Black Ops(MW3), and Halo

I would just like to say that any teams in the Partial Teams thread trying to use old school pro team names should not be allowed until they use their own team name. They did not earn the right to use it, and should not be disrespectful to the great teams we know of under those names.

I'm looking at you, Richard MisFit (tried to use 5K) and Miklo (trying to use StK). That is all.

Everything Antidote said was right. [correct]

corralled into one easy to find, easy to avoid place.

This is why people don't post new threads constantly. And i think the best thing is for people to put their "Free Agent" status in their signature, and then if that person is an active member it will say that they are putting in time. From there the partial team can look that person up on Halocharts.com <--that's a link, yes and/or message them to run games. Having it in their signature will save space and be a constant banner with all of their posts.

I hate you all.
You are going to get picked up from a team slow.

Dont be mad cuz u got kicked off my list bro. N even more dont be mad that i wouldnt team with you because you wernt good enough. Richard MisFit got permission from Hokum (original member) and i have permission from TuSick (was on one of the more recent StK rosters) and Walshy (original member) so hop off me kid.

I don't care that I'm not on your list, and I never tried to be on your team.

Richard didn't get permission from Hokum, that's why he isn't trying to use the name anymore, and you didn't get permission from TuSick (who is that?) and definitely not Walshy.

Feel free to keep being immature, though. It just proves why people like you shouldn't try to use pro team names, because you give it a bad image.
