Hi

my name is asahi and I live in Northern California. I just went to Anaheim and competed. I didnt do well as a team, but I personally thought I had an individual skill high enough to keep playing with some good players. Also after experiencing the full LAN setup with the astros and the MLG atmosphere was just incomparable to anything. I would like to get a good group of people that lives in norcal to LAN. I live in the bay area little north of San Francisco, but i have at least 3 people that would love to get in on this. Please let me know and lets try to get an norcal LAN going. Also i checked on the westcoastlan.com and it seems to be their website is back but there site is acting weird and it seems like it is still going through maintance. My gamertag: Asahi Giggles

Before where, what about equipment? I've only done small lans. I have yet to experience a 'real' lan with 8 monitors and all.

I think I found a place.
GameCenter (http://www.gamecenterarcade.com/?page_id=2)
I havent been there yet but it looks like they can support our needs.

Geez, they only open Wed - Sun. 3pm - midnight. I will give them a ring tomorrow.
"We also have a section of arcade cabinets running Playstation 3s. Access to those games requires purchase of a wristband at the front counter ($7) and is good for the entire day, from open to close."
That would be great if it was $7 a head and they have all the monitors and systems.

Alright, here's the info and let me know if it doesn't make sense.
Operating hours Wednesdays - Mondays 3pm - midnight.
They have 4 - 32" screens on hand(not sure of make/model) and only 3 Xboxs. (They seem to do a lot more of PS3 stuff)
However, they don't have the game so we would need to bring our own.
They have a switch that will allow us for 'minimal lag' gaming.
I spoke to Miyung(sp?) who I believe is one of the owners there and he is happy to help us with getting this going.
He normally charges $7/hour per screen. If it were 8 people(tapping calculator), then $5/hr per screen!
Also, if we need pizza, then he can hook us up with deals around the area.
Lastly, he encourages us to bring our own consoles, monitors, and any of our own gear.
Let me know what you think.

I got a chance to drop by to check this place out today. I am not quite sure how we would be able to do a proper LAN.
(Look at the 3 pictures on the site to get a better idea. HERE (http://www.gamecenterarcade.com/))
When I got there they had a Super Street Fighter 4 tournament in full effect. The person I spoke to on the phone, Miyung, was running it and had a video camera recording 1 screen, documenting the win/loss, and running the store all at the same time.
I asked about the possibility of a LAN and he should me what we have to work with. He has a section that's a 5ft wide hallway with 4 monitors mounted about 4.5 feet high so to be in a better position for your neck and back you'd have to sit against the opposite side wall. Also these monitors have about 1 foot of separation from one another so it would be hard to look at the others screen.(This hallway section not pictured)
Right behind the wall your sitting against is a small 10 x 10 room with a leather couch and a 40" LG 3D LCD monitor. It would be a tight fit there but probably the best spot if the tables are a little narrower than usual.(See 2nd and 3rd picture 'red room')
