A pre-Anaheim Sundance tweet I just went back and looked at says .. "If we sell 100,000 memberships before the national championship I will raise the prize pool. A lot. Next season too."
10:01 PM Jul 28th via Echofon
I'm just wondering where MLG stands on this, is there like a really obvious place I can look to find how many memberships have been bought? Can't mention how many times, (44 times) I try to explain MLG to people..and they just are underwhelmed by the prize money, besides nationals. So if prizes really do go up by the arbitrary 'a lot' amount, well that'd just be coops.

I will be asking him about this at Raleigh good sir.
Will gladly let YOU know once I find out.
This would not only be awesome for the players, but would give past players and future players more drive to become pro.

Ogre1 seems to be playing with his brother and the Instinct team quite a bit lately....
Just sayin' ;)

@DeeLuv...that would require Instinct to drop Pistola...and I don't see that happening anytime soon. TD saw what a huge mistake it is to drop him.

I hope they also extend the prize money to the TOP 12 or TOP 16 finishers at each event for both SC2 and Halo Reach theres just to much talent for it to just be the top 8.

Oh no, I didn't mean to imply that Instinct would drop anyone. They aren't going anywhere, and frankly Halo needed a dominant team like that. They are must-see Halo and the drama of seeing if anyone can catch them makes it SO intriguing.
I was implying that Ogre1 would come back to the tour, with someone - not Instinct - but someone. I can see how I made it sound like he was going to Instinct tho, my bad. haha

@DeeLuv...would love to see a comeback from Ogre 1!! lol. Also I think expanding making money to Top 12 or Top 16 would be a good idea, but unless the 1st Place prize is significantly increased winnings will become very low to the bottom teams.

Problem with that Is that First place would have to be like 50,000 or something like that then trickle down. If they just multiples everything by 1.5x or 2x for the regular events and 1.5x for Champs and keep it the top 8 and increase the pro stipend to 800 or 1000$ then it would be worth while. If you lower the standard to top 12 then most would be satisfied with a 12th place finish....For a top team 12th is cake

Increasing the pro stipend also seems like a good idea or even stipends for the top 32 teams? Or really whats the point of calling yourself a semi pro team?

Yea I figured it would have to be a lot like that for 1st. Also agree with Top 12, would make it okay to place there and not reach Top 8. They could just raise the Top 3 places or something and raise the Pro stipends.

1st Place for SC2 is $5,000, 1st for Reach is $20,000 (4 players). Works out to the same per player, with the exception of if you have a coach for Halo. SC2 also has the biggest payout for 1st, $50,000 to one player while Reach splits $100,000 between 4 or 5 people. How much more do you want to give for SC2?

I think that in addition of a larger prize pool he should add more games to the circuit. I would love to see some more fighters on there.

Sundance tweeted and asked what Fighter game everyone would like to see on the circuit next year.
Anaheim and Cbus were the first 2 times MLG has come even/Positive while hosting an MLG Event.
Keep this in mind :)
It seems like Sundance wants to keep expanding so that next year they will go Positive every event and in turn increase Prizes for all platforms and increase stipends, and maybe even give out contracts again......??? Who knows whats on the horizon.

sc2 needs more prize money. top 32 need to get paid. the amount of traffic that sc2 draws makes it possible to bump up the prize money.

How do you check how many members there are? Also I think that all of us on TLN who are interested in the progression of MLG should definitely buy memberships.

you cant call yourself a semi pro team.. there is no such thing anymore. They used to have a 17-32 seed that worked just like the 1-16 seeds. But that is gone now, its just whoever has the most points gets the highest AM seed.

It has to stay within the top 16 cause If the top 32 are paid, then that would just be little everything right now. Everyone should be trying to get in the top 8..... Let's just say this is still the beginning of something that could potentially grow up to the standard of the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA etc. We don't know how much potential this has....
For right now only the top 16 should get stipends....Maybe 10 year from now the top 16 will get paid, and MLG will occur every other weekend.......We just don't know what will become of this unstoppable Machine

I can't rea;;y see an event every other weekend, just seems way to much of a hassle. But 1 a month seems like it could work out better, or 1 every 3 weeks.
