Hey guys, I was wondering if I could get internet to my xbox and computer through this specific setup. Basically a yes or no question.

Alright so my routers plugged into my wall and everything.

If I plugged an Ethernet cable into my router, and the other end into this switch I guess it's called. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833156266

Then, take two Ethernet cables plug them into the switch and the other ends into computer and Xbox. Would I have an internet connection?

That should work, yes.

this should just replace your router. a router essentially is a smaller scale switch board.

this will work if you want to add more ethernet ports to your router. it can't replace a router because it doesn't have DHCP. you need the router for the internet connection.

Alright sweet. I have my router in my living room and I only use ethernet cables to connect stuff to it and I'm trying to get my gaming setup in my room.

Meaning instead of getting two 50ft ethernet cords, I'm getting one and I'm already getting that switch for my LAN parties.
