Hey TLN,
Sundance has been talking a lot about locking teams so that they have to stay together for a while before they can split up. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
I kind of like it because then I can choose a team and not keep switching teams because my favorite player switches teams.
On the other hand, team changes change the game up.

im 50/50 on this its like Contracts on pro sports teams keeps things in check. but it would not be this way if teams stick together like they use to... back in the day team changes were a HUGE deal cuz they were more rare... now its so common we expect it.

I love the idea, from what I heard its only 1/4 of the season they are locked for, but it will let me actually have a favorite team for more than an event again.

shouldn't go into a lock people should be able to play with people they geniunely wanna play with if their unhappy with their team, not gonna do so hot, give the players all the freedom to explore teams and players they want

ehhh, i kinda dont think this is fair to the pros. They are taking a break, they need time to think things over, and most of them are playing skyrim, battlefield, ect. Just having fun being a casual gamer until the opener gets closer, but then again, i would love to see which player ends up with which team

Idk it might take away from the Halo because when teams break up and new ones form its exciting to see how they do

This is a very opinionated question. It really depends on the situation. Overall, I believe it would be for the best due to forcing teams to try to work out their issues rather than separating at the first hiccup they deal with. On the other hand if there is a major issue between teammates, it would hardly be fair to be forced to team with someone you can't see eye-to-eye to. Either way I think this is something that should be tried out to see how well it would work.

well is it a 2 event lock cuz you gotta look at it this way the amount of events have lowered over the years from 13 in 2005 all the way to about 5 a year so 5 events means you can be on 2 teams cuz if you get locked on event 3 and 4 then you gotta play with them in Nats so...

I love this idea. It stops people from smack talking each other one event then being on the same team next event. It would make Halo more appealing simply because you can have a favorite team now.

I'll double agree...
But if they do more events, I wouldn't be against a mid-season lock, similar to how baseball can't trade after the all-star game. Trade all you want up to that point, but once you cross that deadline, you're stuck with who you got.
Locking the rosters would make team changes MORE important and controversial, because if you make a bad one, you'll be truly screwed for the next 2 events, so some players will put in more effort into trying to get on a top team and put more effort into teamwork and limiting the personality clashes that, frankly, have been tearing the whole community apart.
Whether it's Pro, Am, or casual, the constant "i'm better than you" attitude (even with people on the same team) is really getting out of hand, and I think it will all but force the pros to set a better example and bring a more adult mindset to the events as a whole.
In the end, everyone will have to step up their game, both on and off the field so to speak.

I agree with most everyone...It depends on the terms of the locks...Also, if they are doing the 4 season year like they were talking about, with events taking place at the end of every quarter. It would make sense to lock the rosters, it would make the game more exciting, allowing fans to favorite TEAMS rather than Players...It also would work very well for sponsors, and endorsements...It's easier to endorse a team rather than 1 person if they are sticking together.

I approve of locks because only the most motivated fans can keep all the team changes straight. Also I hope this will promote the deep strategy we love rather than pure skill based run and gun play.

With the 2012 season teams will have to stay the same for each "3 month" (11 week) season. Personally I think this direction is fantastic as the teams that work together the best will be on top. Don't get me wrong, their shots will still have to be great to be there too but in a team game it should be teamwork oriented, which this is looking to promote.

I feel like the odd one out but I don't support the lock. Simply because what if Instinct come out unbeatable agen then teams will be out of luck because instinct can know the teams and how they play and just shut them down. (Im just using Instinct as an example btw.) Sure people will know how they will play but they knew how they played this year and instinct still won multiple events and placed second in another.

All this will do is put more emphasis on making good team changes and decisions, rather than the "oh hey lets try out this guy and see how it works" mentality. Most of the players will run with other people from day to day, so being able to make an educated decision on what's best for the team shouldn't be too difficult. If a team captain makes a bad player move, he should have to suffer the consequences.
