NICE! I'm glad you support the THUNDER! I would love to tell you that the Magic are my favorite in the East but, I'd just be lying to you. Gotta go with the Celtics on that one. But I do support the Magic don't get me wrong. We just need the Thunder to finish off Denver here and D. Howard to crush the basket in the paint and make some 3's! Then we can keep our discussion up till the Finals!

West = LA v. Dallas

OKC v. Memphis

Now rooting for the Bulls in the East, and the Thunder in the West. Memphis is a great story especially with Z-Bo... but I have to root for the future powerhouse of the west, led by Kevin Durant.

By the way, I said I would take the Magic out of my number 1 spot if they didn't pull through. I've been with them so long and they do nothing but come up short nowadays. I guess it's a lot harder to leave a team when you are a local.

Sorry to break it to ya, but you can't only have 1 good player in the bulls and make it to the finals.

OT: Spurs have been playing badly lately so they will most likely not do well.
Celtics and Heat are probably looking the best right now to go to the Finals. But they are both in the East conference.

Luol Deng = 18.6 ppg, 6.2 rpg.
Joakim Noah = 12 ppg, 10.6 rpg.
Kyle Korver = 10 ppg, and .588 3P%.
Carlos Boozer = 10 ppg, 10.2 rpg.

Haha. Ok let me rephrase this. They need more than 1 GREAT player. Great players average more than Micheal just showed to you.
They might have the least losses but the same thing happened to the Mavericks earlier this season because of the shitty teams they were facing.
Did you really thing MJ could win a championship ring without Scottie Pippin's help.
I don't see much basketball playing where you are from as much as here. Just saying.

BTW... Heat: D.Wade, LJ, and Bosh are THREE GREAT PLAYERS!!!!
Celtics: Rondo(maybe a better PG that D.Rose), Allen, 2 O'Neils, KG also used to be or now are GREAT PLAYERS. And Perkins is probably bigger than all of the players in the Bulls.

Just saying bro.

I agree with Michael's post, also Kentucky has most NCAA championships, Finals appearance and first D1 collegate team to reach 2000 career win. It's like I said. You lack knowledge

I really don't think Rondo is on the same level as Rose. Rose has what Rondo has, plus the ability to score.
In fact, I personally believe the guy in my avatar is on the brink of gaining a level on Rondo. Just my opinion.

EDIT:
The Bulls looked a bit better tonight. The things that will move them on to the next round started to become visible through this game.
The Mavericks are gaining my attention. Anyone who is beating the Lakers gets a temporary fan out of me.

Damn, the Thunders win over Memphis last night was the most intense game I have watched in a long time. 3OT's and Thunder finally pulls it out with a 133-123 W over Grizz. A lot of NBA related posts on other sites say the Thunder can't win away games. Hopefully this will silence the critics a little bit.

Lakers went down looking like a bunch of criers too. The Odom and Bynum intensional's were inexcusable. And as far as the old guard is concerned it looks like the Celtics are on the way out as well.

As Shawn Powell from NBA.com posted..."The NBA landscape is shifting and changing before us, and in the summers to come we may start seeing less Kobes and KGs and more LeBrons and KDs." I couldn't agree more.

We'll see what happens. I think the Bulls could beat every team in the east, but perhaps not the Heat. The Heat look too strong right now, but you never know what can happen in a 7 game series. That is assuming the Bulls do close out the Hawks like they should.

@MichealMongrol; Rondo is a vetted professional. Rose is the new kid on the street. (Not to mention MVP at 22 and currently getting all the latest press). So obviously he's going to look better at this time. But Rondo can without a doubt hold his own with the best in the league; and do it with ONE ARM! If you wanna have a point guard discussion let's talk Jason Kidd. Probably the best PG of our generation!

OKC better close out the Grizzle's tonight. I heard on the radio this morning that since the Lakers & Celtics are out of the playoffs no "average fan" cares about basketball anymore. I wanted to reach through the radio and strangle the DJ.

On topic of best PGs of all time, I think D-Rose will be in the top 3 by the end of his career, and Rondo in the top 7 or 8.

The thing about the PGs of this new era (D-Rose, Rondo, Westbrook) is that they all have a quickness and ability to change directions in less than a second unlike anything we've seen in the past. All due respect to Jason Kidd though, as he is no-doubt one of the greatest PGs of all time up there with Magic Johnson.

Oh Snap! Nice call regarding increased quickness. (not to say Magic Johnson was a slow guy or anything). One thing about this new gen of PG's I "think" they push to the paint a little too often. Especially Westbrook. And its almost like it is encouraged. (push in and try to draw the foul) I remember not to long ago when commentators would eat kids lunches for pulling those stunts. Push when you need to but the majority of the time I think PG's need to slow the ball down and set up picks.

Brwn

Hey, im kinda new to this thread, but I'll jump right in if thats cool.

I think PG's need to slow the ball down and set up picks.
Your right about the picks, but instead of slowing the ball down, i think PGs try to slow the game down, if that makes sense. And also set up screens. But the quickness in the paint, i think thats just them trying to sneak in to get a good shot while drawing fouls.

Anyone excited for the Bulls vs. Heat game today. Should be interesting seeing Derrick Rose and Dwayne Wade playing.

xMortyZx
05-15-2011, 05:03 PM
@Brwn; slowing the ball down to me is slowing the game down. Same / Same. Don't get me wrong, PG's who push and make plays happen can force wins. I'm pretty sure we are saying the same thing in two different ways.

THUNDER BEAT MEMPHIS IN GAME 7! WESTBROOK TO DURANT PICK AND ROLLS! CONGRATS OKC! OFF TO THE WESTERN CONF FINALS!

I'm ready for the Bulls & Heat. Gonna be some good stuff!

MichaelMongrel
05-15-2011, 08:29 PM
I think if you have a great scorer/passer PG, it is a good idea for them to drive. Drive and kick can really score you some points if you have other players to finish.
Rondo is the superior in the passing category right now, no doubt, but Derrick Rose is really developing each week he plays. Russell Westbrook I think really needs to work on his passing, and hopefully his court-vision will improve, and possible he could really compete with the other two next season.

Really happy the Thunder won. They are my new favorite team.

As much as I love watching Dwyane Wade go off, I'm really pulling for the Bulls this series.

@Michael; glad to know I've got a fellow Thunder fan! With regards to Westbrook. Agreed. He needs to pass more and not just to KD (although most of the time you want the ball in KD's hands)

The Heat-Bulls game was intense! Mutha F'ing Gibson is a beast! What did the commentators say, "I have been to the mountain top!" Hahaha.... defiantly pulling for Chicago this series!

MichaelMongrel
05-15-2011, 11:08 PM
The Bulls played exactly how they are supposed to. You know your team is playing well when you have 4 of your starters in double figures in one essential category. D-Rose and Luol Deng both had over 20 points, Carlos Boozer with his 14, and Joakim Noah with his 14 rebounds.
Also, the Bulls defense looked better than ever. They made the big 3 sweat hard and ultimately that decided the game.

I'm gonna put some faith in both of my favorites:

Bulls in 6.
Thunder in 7.

Havkin, damnit! I love you and hate you at the same time. OBVIOUSLY, I died a little last night when my Thunder lost to Dirk and crew. And I'll die a little more if the tasteless HEAT beat the BULLS. The Thunder are gonna be beast next season. Kevin Durant is gonna be spectacular like usual, Russell Westbrook is gonna be on another level after learning from his recent performances, and James Harden is gonna step up and make this a Big Three.
Also, I have high hopes for whoever they draft. Kevin Durant is a big role-model in that organization. Him and his superb work ethic does nothing but good for this team.

@Hea7; rough all around series homie! By the way, your avatar pic that gym made is pretty freaking funny!

@Gweedo, since we not only talk here but also on the phone like a couple of chicks I will forgive you for routing for the Heat. Not too mention you live in Florida. So....:) But Dallas didn't win that series; the Thunder lost it.

@Michael, I agree brother. Next year, we'll have our ring!

I would say Dallas as well only because they beat Miami all the time through out the season but Miami sucked at that time and it looks like they are better.. so its anybodies game :)

Miami in 6. I don't think Dallas has it in them to beat such a beastly line-up.

Miami played too passive at the end. If Miami plays like they did in the 3rd and early 4th qtr for the rest of the series, they've got it in the bag.

Man, I could care less the Mavs won. The Big Three choked... but they definitely showcased some potential with that playoff run. The Mavs will probably not make the Finals again next season cause they are getting too old.
