I will probably catch a lot of flak for this but here it goes...
I really wish RyaNoob had hit the H3 pro scene earlier than he did.
The guy comes out of the combine and immediately makes a significant impact on the circuit. In the three tournaments he competed in he finished 5th, 16th, and 4th. One could argue that if he were to develop a solid foundation of experience he certainly could have risen to become a top tier pro.
I know there are a lot of other up-and comers out there who also deserve praise, but RyaNoob really shows legitimate flashes of brilliance against some of the top players in the league.
It will be interesting to see how his H3 skill translates to Reach.

I'm sure he'll be fine, the pros who are on those top teams have invested too much into MLG to not spend the necessary time and devotion towards being Pros at Reach. Plus they're mega talented.

Ryanoob will excel at reach because he isn't just your average player he is a smart player.

You're missing the placing he had at Orlando. I believe it was 14th (but don't quote me on that)

I will, but only because your right ;) He also went to the 09 Orlando Nationals, but I'm not sure what place. Top32 at the least, I'm thinking Top 28.
And I completely agree, he's a freaking beast. My 2nd favorite pro to Pistola.

Ryan's a beast and I remember just hanging out on that one Sandbox race course with him, Gunker, and Gaunce. We used to play Customs together a lot before he went to the combines and events and was only known as an online warrior.... Then he got famous. :p It's whatevskis though. I still root for him.
@System: He went with Soarin' and Fourin'. They placed 27th at Orlando 2009. That was his 2nd event. Before that he went with Tokyo Cops I believe. Bullzeye, Absoludicrous, A Dark Legacy, and Ryan were on the team if I remember correctly. They didn't make it really far.

I am good friends with his combine teammate Dubay and I have talked/played against Ryanoob at combines, he is pretty funny.
Kinda baits teammates then finishes kills so moderately selfish player but I'm sure that he will mature with time.

Agreed.
Ryan is a savage. He should be around for a while.

yeah i remember playing him in the FFA at the Chicago Combine hes very relaxed when he plays its a mental game i was suprised by he treats you kind and with respect gets you to relax and counters you with that cuz u get laid back and he kinda makes you forget its competive.

I guess what I meant was the three tournaments he played in on a pro team.

Honestly no one could say that with time he would have become a top tier player. Sure we'd like to believe progression is something that will come constantly if we continue the same pattern of dedication, practice, and yes a bit of luck. However, this is false. For someone or something to progress it takes more than what you are currently putting in. If you are someone who practices like 5 hours a day and you're placing in the pro ranks, that may be enough to keep you where you are at or maybe a move up one seed if your team is meshing, but it's those additional 3 or 4 hours that is going to allow you to break into the top 8.
My reason for bringing this up is simple... there is no telling of Ryan would have become this top tier player if he had broken out earlier. The MLG circuit is a roller-coaster ride of triumph and defeat. For all we know him breaking out earlier could have meant him placing disappointingly low this event and having his highest placing about a year prior to DC. It's always fun to say "what if" but I mean you also have to take into account the negatives as well.
On a side note I'd like to say, while he hasn't placed well in 4v4, Amish Acorns has always impressed me more than Ryan. Maybe 4v4 isn't his forte, or maybe his individual skill just surpasses it, but I mean winning like 3 events in a row just seems more impressive to me. I honestly think if he had a few ppl (pros) take the time to spend with him like Noob got after the combine, then maybe Amish would be the one this thread was dedicated to. Just a thought.

@Martyr: Ryan doesn't get off Halo. It's more than 5 hours a day. Lul.

I was saying 5 hours hypothetically. And the fact that he doesn't get off the game and isn't at the theoretical "top tier" status that he's supposedly deserving of, just kind of proves my point more, or at least suggests that other pro players who don't play as much as him (while placing better) are just naturally better at the game.

He plays so much because he's not even at the top tier yet. Look how fast he moved up. Combine Winner -> Top 16 with AdR -> Top 5 with Warriors -> Top 4 with Darkest Hour. He moved up. He never got to the top tier though because it was too late.

What I'm getting at isn't that he isn't a great player it's simply that there are others who have had a similar success and an even crazier rags to riches story. As much as people try to avoid the touchy subject, Ryan's success is largely due to winning down a watered event which pretty much sparked his career and the fan's awareness of who he was. I just don't get why players like Snake Bite, or APG, or anyone like that aren't getting the respect they are due. APG in my opinion is one of those great stories that only a few people know of. He was originally someone who was working his ass off just to make top 32, and the whole forum would join in and pretty much tell him he'd never make it or that he sucked. Then he makes top 32, then top 12, and then pushes for consistent top 8 placings all within the span of a year and at the age of like 14 going on 15 if I believe correct.... And Snake Bite has been making pro like it's his job, and he made pro at like 13!? Where the hell is the credit from that?

If that was the case, players like Dubay, Blaze, Jerawockee, Swift Kill, Adrenaline, etc. would be up where Ryan is too. Especially Adrenaline. But none of them are. There's a reason why Ryan's the only one.
Ryan didn't make top 32, then made top 32, then won a combine, then made top 16, then made top 5, then made top 4. That's working your ass off. All in the span of a year.
aPG gets the respect he deserves. He's an amazing player. Him and Destin.
