I think if a team wants to do well, the best preparation you could get is performing at a multiple team lan at TLN. When Instinct won Columbus they dominated the 5 team lan just before the event. Final Boss destroyed at the 6 team lan in August and carried that momentum into Raliegh and won. TD was the best team at the 6 team lan in early October and propelled that confidence to their best placing of the season. At the latest 6 team lan, SQ upset everyone in the lan tournament and won it pretty handily. T2 helped them tremendously, but I bet the confidence they gained at that lan tournament was more important.
This was the best season of H3, and I think Mr. & Mrs. along with TLN staff have had a tremendous hand in this. There use to be just two team lans where pros would be practicing against the same play style over a 3-4 day period. This would would hinder their performances at events. On the other hand, TLN brought in 5 to 6 of the best teams in the world and let them practice against each other for over 50+ games, with a double elimination style tournament. These lans made these players improve, which helped in the fans in returnbecause events were more memorable and exciting.
Listening to team chats, players doing their own chat with the fans on the basement cam, and Mr. P interviews, let us get to know the pros more. I been a die hard Ogre/Final Boss fan since I found out about them in '04. In the '09 season my intrest in league diminshed after FB started to place poorly. Though I never gave up on them, but as soon as they were eliminated I stopped watching the MLG stream. Then I was on fourms and heard about TLN being streamed on JTV. I knew FB was going to be on there a lot with Totz joining FB and thus sparked my intrest in TLN. I seen that Mr.P had interviewed OG2 so I signed up. I not only watched his interview, but the other pro interviews like Sk, Pistola, and FIS. These interviews and subsequent lans made me feel as if I got to know the players, which made feel more invested into other players and teams. I never turned off the stream once this season, didn't matter who was playing. I owe that to this site.
My point is, TLN is great for teams and community members. I know the first event of Reach will be a lot more competive because of TLN, compared to the first event of H3.
P.S. If there is a winter lan, I hope some H1 could be streamed.
