First ever TLN customs thread!

Okay, so here's how it goes. I have been the "customs" guy before and it sucks. You get a million people that say they want to play, then no one joins your games. You end up sitting in the lobby for 45 minutes with 5 other people complaining that they want to play. You start an FFA, and they complain about that. So, I quit trying.

Here is what I am going to do this time. I am going to set up custom games every so often. I will give the time for the next days customs here. Then, you will post your GT's if you want to participate. I will invite everyone who posts. If you do not post for that specific day, I will not invite you, assuming that you won't be online at that time. If there is not at least four people with possible friends to invite, I will not hold the custom.

Feel free to send me invites if you want to play MM, or try to run your own customs. I am running up a new account. It's at 28 right now. (I'm not a 50, I'm a 45.) My GT is ILANtheWorld (I LAN the World)

Yeah, I have to agree that the customs yesterday were pretty kick-ass. Sorry Impended, I told that guy not to boot you, but I didn't have party lead. He was complaining about you lagging, but meh. We only played like one or two more games anyway. I don't mind a little lag in a custom. I don't want it, but I can get over it. When it's like it was at the beginning, it's unplayable. We definitely have something good going on, and to anyone that missed out, sorry, and we'll try to get you in there. I wanna run some today when I wake up. He's obviously not quite fond of MLG 50s. It's whatever though. I probably won't be on for a good while because I sent my xbox in to Microsoft. It has the RRoD. I was using my brother's xbox this summer because I've been home, but I move back onto campus today.

The customs definitely rocked yesterday. I really don't think that there was a game where one team was dominant, we were all pretty evenly matched. Except for Imp3nded raping us with every weapon to go ridiculously positive ;)

I believe the longest I have gone without sleeping was one time me and my bro and a bunch of friends tried to see how long we could play Halo 2 back in the day. I lasted for about 60 hrs before passing out from exhaustion. I had so many Mtn Dews and junk food during that time >_< Most people only lasted about 40 hrs. I was still playing when everyone else woke up. :p

Cryptography = Computer Science theory + Imaginary mathematics. lol not really but it is a very hard computer science course that i'm talking this term. actually almost all the classes im taking this term are extremely hard. hopefully that will change next term with possibly only having classes Monday / Thursday... :)

*Also I was going through all of my films today (it's good to see what your mistakes were; strongly suggested) to see what I did wrong. Okay thats what I thought. I'm working on a spreadsheet that can be used by EVERYONE if they want to get some consistency in how the stats are posted. This will hopefully when I'm done have formulas to not only PULL the data from a drop sheet but also SUM and Average all the amounts as well as color coded it for easy viewing.

I enjoy this type of stuff as its what I make for work since we use SO much different reports to rank reps and have competitions.

Anyone here good with spreadsheets? I'm currently using OpenOffice for Linux as my laptop doesn't have windows/excel spreadsheet. I'll need someone to open the workbook in excel and tell me if there was any conversion issues later.

I agree with this statement. Of course I probably won't be able to partake on Friday and Saturday due to work however I have Sunday - Tuesday off and plan on playing a LOT of H3 on Sunday/Monday. Maybe we can get some really good custom games organized???

Hopefully by this weekend me and Heuer89 will have a solid way to keep track of our custom game stats for future possible events too! Which BTW Heuer I uploaded a doc into Dropbox called TLN-STATS (WIP). Take a look at it and tell me what you think, all the stats are fake btw.

It seems like you are keeping a historical record of every custom game played stats? The spreadsheet I've been working on is more or less designed for an "event" or multi game series of custom games rather than a collection.

TBH, im not 100% sure getting a single pro player would be the best idea. Unless teams were stacked to a point where it was actually even skillwise, because without that balance one team is going to dominate the other.

Now 2 Pro players is where its at ;)

If we get flame we will most likely get roy. And idk i've played games with flamesword they are in my fileshare. (no offense to you flame if you read this) but i didn't lose any games i played against him. What i'm trying to say is they are skill wise, where a lot of people are its the teamwork and communication that sets them apart. (I went for the fantasy points :p)

I managed and sponsored a team for a couple of events, and played some MM with them. We played FB three games in a row, and lost all three. Took them to 2 to 3 Pit CTF. They capped in the last minute. :(

Edited for OT: We should just send a message to some of the pros whenever we start a custom. You never know.

I just tried playing two games of matchmaking with my thumbnail halfway off (you're welcome for the info). It was so painful to aim. Those had to be two of my worst games ever. Idk if I'll do customs. I might try to see if I can fight through the pain. :3 (I was on my Impended acc)

Agreed. I have just taken care of this part. I am so excited to play Reach! :) And don't worry about being rusty, we aren't pros or anything... :p
