Hey I am extremely exited for this to happen and convinced my folks for this to be my Christmas present :) I just have a few questions about this:

1. When will the spots be up on the site to purchase?
2. Where will they be located on the site to purchase?
3. How will we pay it? (credit card/check etc...)
4. Do we need to sign any forms before we go?
5. Is there an age limit? (I'm 17)

This is going to be a lifelong memorable four days in my life I will never forget.

Edit: ALL INFO ABOUT TLN FANTASY CAMP IS ON THIS THREAD: http://thelannetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?1251

I wonder about the age limit too. And hopefully it will be at a time where I won't have to miss more than a day of school...

600 dollars plus your plane tickets as well. But I am still looking into it.

I would totally go bc I only live 2 hrs from the Chi teezy but I don't think my boss would let me have work off to go lan for 4 days... that and I would probably be the worst player there.

The Main reason I bring this up is because If we have to get there by airplane, then booking our flights would be cheaper and easier if we could buy the spots earlier so it's not last minute if you know what i mean :)

1. Dunno
2. Probably on the carousel, I'm sure you won't be able to miss it.
3. Credit Card or Paypal I'm sure.
4. No forms.
5. No age limit, but your parents can talk to mine if they have any questions or concerns.

It will be over Winter Break, I think, so it shouldn't conflict with school.

Thanks Joe! This is going to be awesome if i get in with the first top 15. I got exams in January but i doubt PvJ will be at the same time.

600 is steep. That gives each pro a little over 1500 for a weekend. That is a bit overpaid IMO, and I think they could drop it to 300-400.

But I guess we'll see how the first PVJ turns out, and if the demand eventually drops I'm sure the price will be lowered.

Each Pro 30-50 bucks an hour for GT on live. So At least 8 hours of gaming a day. There are 5 pros. So that is 2000$. I think 600 is pretty legit.

Like I said in that other thread, I really can't fathom how people not only have $600 + travel costs to casually throw around, they want to spend it on LAN'ing with a few pros in a new game. That's enough money to fund traveling to and participating in 2-3 MLG events, where you're more likely to actually impress people with a standout performance. Not trying to deter anyone (not that my opinion carries any weight anyway), I just don't see it myself.

Your logic assumes that $30-$50 per hour for gameplay with a pro over xbox live is a reasonable price.

Uh...

That isn't a reasonable price lol.

All of the money doesn't go to the Pros. Some of the money is going to be used to pay for your food, transportation to and from the airport, and misc. activities.

@Fierce I'm sure if you came over you would change your mind. You are getting the same sense of traveling around that you do at an event, and, instead of going to an event, trying to get noticed, and getting knocked out 3rd/4th/5th/6th round, you get you have a great time all weekend. The whole weekend will be fun and there is limited down time. You also get to hang out with all of the Pros, something you can't do at the events, and play side by side with them. Regardless of this being a new game, the approach that you have to take is the same, and these guys just know how to play these games.

@Dactyl It is really about how much you value it. Everyone will assign a different dollar amount to it, but, as mentioned in a previous argument, if Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, and Steve Nash had a basketball camp where you got to go to Kobe's house, hang out, and play basketball for four days, would you think $600 is a fair price?

I'm sure if I still competed, had a desire to impress pro players, and had $600+ to throw around, I'd change my mind too. None of those are the case, however, and from a third person perspective, that's a lot of money to play Halo, regardless of the "perks" that come with it.

Mr. P stated that all of the money was going to go to the pros.

I think it's fairly obvious that the value of 'hanging out' with five of the most famous NBA players is exponentially higher than the value of 'hanging out' with five MLG pro players.

And $600 isn't NEAR what you'd have to pay to hang out with NBA players. So, I'd say the pricing is right. Just don't go if you don't want to spend the money.

Exactly how I explain it to people who tell me I'm wasting $600. Also, when your a pro gamer you need to make money. That is their job. I see this as a beneficial way for both the Pros and the Joes. The pros are making a living playing video games like they want to and the Joes get to get professional LAN practice, pro lessons and tips, get to meet the pros, and just get to hang out with them. IMHO $600 is a great deal :)

This is like a vacation type of deal you guys need to realize that you're getting a lot for the price but i do agree anything over 400 is to much i understand the cost of food housing and that kind of stuff but people need to pay to get there and then pay more than the price of a plane ticket to get in the price should not be more than $400 imo.

Aren't you the kid whose parents are paying for it as a holiday gift? You're not wasting any money. You might think about how great of a deal it is when the money is coming out of your own pocket.

Like I said, not trying to deter anyone from doing this if they want to and have the means to do it. Good for you. Price just seems excessive from an outside perspective.

How does spending 3 days playing video games benefit you.......?

During the TLN Ep.2, Mr.P says there might be older gamers(maybe 25+) and younger gamers(maybe 14-17). But I would like to know a set time/date for the pass for the PvJ. Because 15 slots can sell out in minutes.

I think it's an awesome deal. I certainly don't have the money to throw around and if I asked my parents to pay for it they would just laugh. Imo $600 could go to a lot better things then this. It really is just for a fun time, i doubt it benefits anyone. The people that go are gonna go and have a great time, no doubt about that. Then they are just gonna go home after three days and have $600 dollars less. As for the whole not earning the money, yeah you might think that your "spending it" since its $600 dollars you "would" be getting. In all reality your basically not earning or gaining money, where as if anyone else wanted to shell out $600 hundred bucks then they would lose $600 dollars.

Math behind it.
Start off with $0, get handed $600 dollars, spend $600 dollars. You come back out even.
Start off with $0, work hard for $600 dollars, spend $600 dollars. You still come back out even, but a dollar is worth more when you have to earn it. Not when it's handed to you.

dang i didnt know there was a 600 entrance fee.. i could understand if this included air fare but thats steep... i agree with everyone saying that they can go go to events with that.. and the idea of hanging out with these pros would be awesome but theres a lot of variables... maybe if this was like a longer event say like 2 weeks...

i feel as if they should have an online tourney for maybe a couple of free spots to go to this...

i work full time military and even with guranteed pay it isnt much and i have to pay for insurance and books for school then i also need money to travel to the opener..

also i dont see the point of going to something like this without your own personal team.. they should think about have a tournament with 5 other teams for longer than 4 days then it would be worth it....

but thanks mr and mrs p for opening your place to us joes

I think $600 is more then a fair price if you can gain something from the weekend. The thing is I bet the 15 who go, just go and have a fun time come home and that's it. $600 is a great price if your already on a team that is moving and has been around to some events or even just have gotten to a point where your thinking about it. $600 for amazing lessons, I'm surprised it's not more.

I think $600 is very cheap, this 600 includes, a place to stay (wayyyy better than a fancy hotel IMO), meals, and the fact that your playing with/against top pros (learning how to play at the top level). This is a once and a life time opportunity for anyone that wants to try to raise thier skill level greatly and to meet some of the pros that make MLG what it is today. :P

One thing I was wondering, what about equipment?, TV (or monitor), xbox, contoller, headset. Do we bring those if we're one of the 15 players? orrrrr? :P hahahha

The Monitor's and 360's will be at the gaming house. I don't know about the Headsets but I think you will need your controller. I'm pretty sure when you purchase one of the spots, you will be given all the info on what to bring. Hope that helps :)
