The Needle Rifle takes 7 shots to kill, 6 body shots and 1 to the head Or 3 more body shots for the needles to explode. The DMR on the other hand is 5 shots to kill, 4 body shots and 1 to the head or 3 more body shots. The Needle Rifle can shoot faster with a smaller bloom but the DMR takes less shots to kill. It evens out if you think abut it so the kill rate is about the same.

I would still go with the DMR though.

Well part of the problem was that for headshots to register in the beta you had to aim just a bit over their head. They fixed that hitbox problem before the beta ended so everything should be good at launch. I'm guessing that you're going to like it much more than you did in the beta.

Got ya I just assumed it was the same 5 shot kill as the DMR. thanks for the info and input.

Change things up a little bit, bigger maps - DMR start, smaller maps - pistol start

My personal opinion is this, the DMR will be a lot like the H2 BR for this reason the Burst in the H2 BR didn't have a spread over distance at all. It was as if you were shooting one bullet. Yes the DMR takes 5 shots instead of four, and yes unlike the BR it has a Bloom but hey it is much better than H3 imo. I personally hated H3 and i'm very glad to see it gone. I'm also loving the return of the H1 pistol, in terms of the zoom at least (yes I am aware that the Reach pistol is not 3 shots to kill)

I like the idea of DMR + Pistol starts. It allows more variety in terms of weapons use and also opens up the potential for someone to record great individual multikills with the extra ammunition. In terms of the DMR's actual characteristics, I think it sounds (and seemed) preferable to the Halo 3 BR, although the kill time is somewhat longer. It will be interesting to see if the longer kill time will encourage bolder map movement and reward teamshot as opposed to individual play-making. It's probably just too early to tell.

I believe that it will be the exact same amount of team base as there is in H3. Yeah its one more shot for a kill but still I think it won't be much of a change in pace or teamwork.

    In the beta:

    Pistol > DMR
However Bungie said they fixed the DMR. When I was playing the Beta (only played a couple of games) it seemed like I couldn't hit any of my shots. Like the aim was on point it just wasn't hitting them. Even in swat it seemed like I had to 7 shot every kid for them to die. I'm glad they fixed it.
