Right in a effort to stop all the off topic flaming, think of it this way.

In H1 there was a pistol, H2 was released and people had to get used to the BR. H3 had the updated BR with more spread on the shots and no hitscan on it.

Now we have a new game(Set before Halo 1) So no BR was designed so they needed to introduce something that would fit in with the competitive play as well as not being overpowered. Its a new game, your are going to have to get used to the changes once again.

I'm welcoming the DMR with open arms. Oh yeah, and that pistol too.

I don't see the big deal about the bloom...

the H3 BR had a set time you had to wait to pull the trigger again... pull too fast and nothing happens, pull too slow and you fall behind in your 4-shot battle (assuming the other guy is as good/better)

It was all about timing... but time always moved in one direction.

I see the DMR and it's reticule bloom as extremely similar. The only change is that you can pull too early and still fire. Your aim won't be as "dead-on" as if you time it properly, however, because of the bloom.

    Soooo kiddies:
When battling someone at distance, take your time, aim, fire. Space your shots, catch your breath, let the bloom subside, and fire again.
When you're up close, spam the hell out of the trigger, get your 4 poorly-aimed body shots, then calm down, steady your gun, and send that 5th round through his dome.

The bloom time on the DMR isn't too different than the "dead time" on the BR (the moment between trigger pulls when nothing happens), just find your rhythm and go with it.

They had prototype BR for a while as it was mentioned in the book about Harvest where they first encountered the covenant. The DMR just feels right since there is no spread. Its all about accuracy and timing of shots with the bloom. I think it will separate those who depended on the spread of the BR from those who are more accurate. Just my opinion though.

DMR BR to me it doesn't matter really I remember back when the pistoL was the main weapon..lols anyways for those who haven't had to make a switch yet...with time you will either like it or not...it will make you the kid who plays hard and wins matchs in matchmaking or the kid who nerd rages on the bottom of the list about how much this game sux..the games good..with time even better imo.

Personally I'm loving the DMR. I have had moments when I get pretty upset when someone out DMR'd me by spamming shots and managing to land them on my head while I could never do the same though. It will take time to learn its strengths and weaknesses and be able to cater my game play to those, but I like it. OT: The pistol seems to be able to spam shots however and still land headshots rather easily in mid/close range battles in comparison to the DMR though. IMO.
